MATT CORBETT
Matt Corbett
Matt Corbett is a freelance drummer from South West London, England. Born in 2004 in his hometown of Chessington, he began his musical life by joining the Surbiton Royal British Legion Youth Maching Band at the age of 8 as part of the drum and percussion section, which he is now proud to be the head of. After getting many opportunitys to sit behind the kit during his time in the band, Matt found a love for playing the drums and went on to study music and drumming at GCSE, Extended Diploma, and Degree level (See below for more details of education). Matt is now the drummer for the Ukranian/British Brass Band Freedom Pulse, as well as being an active freelance session drummer and drum teacher.
He has had the opportunity to study with UK drummers Jon duff, Dan Western, and Toby Drummond, allowing him to learn a vast range of styles and genres, making him very versatile.

My Inspirations
Growing up I had very little knowledge of the famous drummers of the world, so never really idolised anyone. As I progressed through the years, and learnt more and more, I was introduced to a whole new world, where I can now name many different drummers that inspire the way I play! the most notable have to be Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the world renown drummer Chris Coleman, and drummer for Snarky Puppy, Larnell Lewis

2019-2021
GCSE
Soutborough High School
Matt Studied GCSE music at Soutbrough High School, receiving a grade of 8. During his time there, He also joined the different ensembles, as well as drumming during the rehersals for the shcools production of Greece. This is when I decided I wanted to dedicate my future to drumming
2021-2023
FE Extended Diploma
ACM Guildford
Matt went on to persue music and drumming further by continuing his studies at Diploma level. He joined ACM after many reccomendations, where he met the different educational figures that have helped me become the drummer he is today. he achieved a high Merritt.
2023-2025
HE Accelerated Degree

He is currently doing a degree in creatvie industry futures, where he has learnt from successful UK drummers such as Toby Drummond and Dan Western, as well as as having private lessons with Jon Duff During this time.
